38th Annual Central Texas Art Competition & Exhibition

November 11 – December 4, 2017

The Central Texas Art Competition is sponsored by Altrusa International of Temple and the Temple South Rotary Club. The exhibition is coordinated by the Temple College Art Department.

Type of Work

picture of art exhibitOriginal paintings, photography, ceramics, sculpture, drawings, prints, and jewelry. Drawings and prints should be hinge-matted with stiff backing and ready to hang. Work without hangers will not be juried. Paintings should be framed, strip framed, or the edges painted in a presentable way. Work previously exhibited in this art competition may not be entered.

Juror

Jeffie Brewer is an assistant professor in the School of Art at Stephen F. Austin State University. He has been a working artist for more than 20 years.

Prizes & Awards

Prize money will be awarded on the night of the opening. The Juror will award six $125 Awards of Excellence and two $50 Honorable Mention Awards in each division. A special Juror’s Award of $200 will also be presented in each division.

Statement

The two-fold goal of the competition is to encourage and challenge the student artists in the Central Texas area. It also provides an opportunity for the appreciation of the creative efforts of these artists.

There will be two separate divisions: High School and College. High School contestants will compete with high school students only. There will be a separate division for college students. Each student can submit up to 3 entries.  There is no entry fee. Accepted works must remain in the gallery until December 1.

Responsibility

Every care will be exercised in the handling of the works, but neither Altrusa, Rotary, nor Temple College will be responsible for the loss or damage of the works.

How To Enter

Completely fill out the identification cards as instructed and attach to your entries. Entries should be delivered in person. Works sent by Parcel Post or other mail services will not be accepted. The identification cards should be attached to the back of the work in the upper left hand corner.

Return of Work

Works not accepted in the exhibition may be picked up in the gallery on the night of the opening, Saturday, November 11, or at the conclusion of the exhibition on Monday, December 4, between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m.
