Welcome to the Division of Health Professions website. By navigating around this website you will find information on Temple College’s exciting health professions programs. You can learn about our Associate of Applied Science Degree programs in Dental Hygiene, Diagnostic Medical Sonography, Emergency Medical Services, Nursing, Respiratory Care and Surgical Technology. Also available are Certificate programs in Vocational Nursing, Emergency Medical Technician-Intermediate, Paramedic and Surgical Technology and Advanced Technical Certificates in Diagnostic Medical Sonography.
Students in the Dental Hygiene program practice clinical skills in the Jean and Ralph Wilson Dental Hygiene Clinic. Surgical Technology students work in a mock operating room equipped with a high-fidelity patient simulator. Students in the Emergency Medical Services and Respiratory Care programs learn clinical skills in mock emergency department treatment rooms and intensive care rooms and on two fully-functional ambulances. Students in nursing work with patient simulators in mock patient care rooms. All students in the Health Science Center and the Dell Martin Nursing Education Center enjoy state-of-the art learning environments with “Smart Classroom” technology used to enhance the didactic portions of their programs. Shelley Pearson is the Associate Vice President of Health Professions. She holds a bachelor’s degree in radiologic technology from the University of Louisiana at Monroe and a master’s degree in radiologic science education from Midwestern State University. She earned a doctorate in higher education administration from Sam Houston State University in 2013. Prior to joining Temple College in 2016, Dr. Pearson served as a professor of radiologic science and director of the Radiologic Technology Program at Blinn College’s Bryan campus.
