Our HR Management Academy is designed primarily for experienced HR professionals seeking the new SHRM-CP™ and SHRM-SCP™ credentials. This certification preparation course focuses on identifying and testing the knowledge and practical real-life experiences HR professionals around the world need to excel in their careers today.
However, it is also open to those not seeking certification, who will find this course provides a comprehensive and accelerated option for professional development. Participants gain a generalist point of view, refresh key ideas and concepts, strengthen their understanding of core competencies and increase productivity.
For those who qualify, earning your SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP™) or SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP™) credential establishes you as a recognized expert in the HR field. These new certifications recognize that HR professionals are at the core of leading organizational success:
- Built on one singular Body of Competency and Knowledge (BoCK) designed to elevate the HR profession around the world.
- Tests the HR professional’s competency – the ability to put that knowledge to work through critical thinking and application.
- Demonstrates that the HR professional is a technical expert and has mastered the application of HR technical and behavioral competencies, through practice and experience, to drive business results.
This certification preparation program covers four knowledge domains: People, Organization, Workplace and Strategy as well as eight behavioral competencies; Leadership & Navigation, Ethical Practice, Business Acumen, Relationship Management, Consultation, Critical Evaluation , Global & Cultural Effectiveness, and Communication. This intensive 40-classroom hour program combines expert instruction with the 2017 SHRM Learning System®, so you will learn faster, retain more knowledge and stay on track as you prepare for the exam. The SHRM Learning System features relevant HR content and advanced tools that streamline study time, accelerate learning and build confidence for passing the SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP exam.
The course investment includes all course materials, printed as well as on-line. Lunch is provided for each of the six Saturday sessions. The investment, however, does not cover registration for the SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP examinations.

All sessions meet in Berry Hall on the Temple College Main Campus.
This schedule is designed to allow participants ample time to complete all assignments between sessions. Study groups are also encouraged to form and meet at least monthly to enhance the learning process.
The Academy wraps up in time for those seeking certification in the Winter exam window to do so between its December 1 opening and its mid-February end date.
The registration fee covers classroom instruction, books, online resources and lunch for the six, six-hour Saturday sessions. It does not, however, cover registration for the SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP certification examinations which are administered by SHRM.

A Payment Plan is now available through Temple College. The first payment is $500 plus a $30 set-up fee for the payment plan. The remaining tuition balance ($645 if registered by August 29; $720 if registered after that time) is divided into two equal monthly payments, due one and two months from the payment set-up date. Thus, if a payment plan is set up on August 29, 2017, with the initial payment of $530, the next payment of $322.50 is due on September 29, and the final payment of $322.50 is due on October 29, 2017. If a payment plan is set up on August 30, 2016 with the initial $530 payment, the next payment of $360 is due on September 30, and the final payment of $360 due on October 30, 2017.

Registration deadline is two weeks prior to the class start date. A $75 late fee will be assessed for registrations received after that time, and there will be no guarantee that participant materials will arrive by the first session if registration is late.
A full refund is available for those who cancel prior to the second class meeting PROVIDED that the SHRM Learning System® materials are still in their shrink wrap and the online resources have not been accessed. If the shrink wrap has been removed or online resources accessed, a $250 refund is available. After the second session, no refunds are available.
There are no admission requirements to take this program, however certain criteria must be met for participants taking the SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP exam (see below). We advise, though, that participants in the Temple College HR Management Academy have HR experience and/or have completed the SHRM Essentials of HR Management, also available through Temple College Business and Continuing Education Division.
SHRM-CP and SHRM-SCP Exam Requirements
To apply for either the SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or the SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP), candidates must have a combination of education and professional HR experience. For more information, including testing fees and schedules, please visit SHRMcertification.org.
