Vocal Point, a Temple College student ensemble focused on musical theatre performing skills, will give a free concert titled “Lost and Found” on Tuesday, Oct. 31, at 12:30 p.m. in the Jackson-Graeter Backstage Theatre.

The concert will feature eight songs that explore things that have been lost or found. Dr. Sara Harris Baker, who directs the ensemble, said the inspiration for this concert came from “You Will Be Found,” a powerful song about suicide prevention from the current Broadway hit, “Dear Evan Hansen.”

“The music and lyrics of this song resonate with our students who have either experienced tough times themselves, or served as emotional support for others who are suffering,” Baker said.

Other songs on the program include “Gonna Get Over You” by pop songstress Sarah Bareilles, “Lost in the Stars” from Kurt Weill’s musical “Lost in the Stars,” “Safer” from the contemporary musical “First Date,” “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” from “The Wizard of Oz,” “Go the Distance” from “Hercules,” “Time After Time” by Cyndi Lauper, and “Journey to the Past” from “Anastasia.”

The Jackson-Graeter Backstage Theatre is located in the Mary Alice Marshall Performing Arts Center. For more information on this concert and other events sponsored by the Temple College Fine Arts Division, call 254-298-8555 or visit www.templejc.edu.
