Temple College is now accepting applications for its next vocational nursing class, which will be offered in both Temple and Taylor beginning in June 2016. The deadline to apply for the program is December 10.
The vocational nursing program is a one-year program designed to prepare students to function in a variety of healthcare settings under the supervision of a registered nurse. Program graduates are eligible to take the state licensing exam for vocational nursing.
Information sessions about the program will be held in both Temple and Taylor on Tuesday, Dec. 1, at 4 p.m. The admission test for the program must be taken by Dec. 3. Financial aid is available for vocational nursing students.
Many community hospitals are currently in need of vocational nurses. Vocational nurses can also find employment in a variety of outpatient settings such as clinics, offices, home care and long-term care facilities. A survey of recent students who graduated from the Temple College vocational nursing program found that 96 percent were able to find employment in the local area.
