The Altin Sencalar Quintet will perform at Temple College on Thursday, Feb. 23, at 12:30 p.m. in the Jackson-Graeter Backstage Theatre.

The concert will feature songs from Sencalar’s debut CD, “Introducing Altin Sencalar” featuring his original writing from quartet to sextet configuration.

Sencalar has been acclaimed as a versatile, melodic, rhythmic and dynamic performer. He is the winner of the 2016 Division 1 American Trombone Workshop Jazz Solo Competition, a finalist in 2017 International Trombone Association’s Carl Fontana Jazz Solo competition, and is one of Austin’s first call trombonists.

In addition to Sencalar, the quintet will feature several other Austin musicians: Daniel Dufour, Alex Browne and Matthew Maldonado, as well as special guest Dr. Benjamin Irom, Temple College’s Director of Jazz Studies.

The concert is free and open to the public. The Backstage Theatre is located in the Mary Alice Marshall Performing Arts Center.
